Carreer prospects 
The MA in PORTUGUESE AND ROMANCE STUDIES is addressed to those who are interested in cultural and artistic universes that use Romance languages, with emphasis on Portuguese literature and culture, as well as Brazilian and African Portuguese speaking countries and other literatures and cultures that use Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). To improve communication, critical analysis and interpretation skills and to acquire scientific and methodological skills for the development of research projects, in particular within the scope of a future PhD, these are the main reasons a student may have to choose this MA. It also provides capabilities to perform professional activities such as cultural advising, cultural production and programming, public relations and heritage and cultural promotion.

Students applying to this course are expected to hold a B.A. degree of 180 ECTS (6 semesters). As established in Act 17, DL 74/2006, which regulates degrees and diplomas (updated by Act 107/2008, 25 June, and by Act 230/2009, 14 Sept.), students who “possess an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that, according to the scientifically competent body of the school where they are submitting their application, testifies to their ability to undertake a Master’s degree” are also eligible. Applicants will be selected by an assessment of their CV and an interview.
