The BA in Classics is anchored in the study of the Greco-Roman roots of Western world and culture. First of all, Classics is for those who want to know more. By being at the origin of much of the contemporary culture, Classics gives a deeper understanding of the Western world and culture in their multiple dimensions (history, literature, art, philosophy, etc.). Classics is also a means to learn how to think in a complex way. In Classics, students develop the ability to read increasingly complex texts, where reasoning and intuition are indispensable tools for analysis, comprehension and interpretation of any type of message. Classics also teaches students how to work. A Classics student focuses on two distinct civilizations, with a diachrony of more than one thousand years each. In addition, one can also extend this analysis into the next two thousand years up to the contemporary world. The ability to deal with a large amount of information, the ability to search for information in libraries or on the Internet, and the possibility of reading bibliography in the main foreign languages (English, French, Spanish and Italian at least) are skills that can be applied in almost any professional activity. Classics also helps students to gain experience and intellectual maturity allowing them to apply to almost any Master's degree in Humanities and Social Sciences: libraries, archives, cultural management, local administration, political science, international relations, history, philosophy, literature , anthropology, etc. Classics also enables those who wish to follow an academic career, dedicating themselves professionally to research and eventually lecturing in the area of Classics.
